attorney profiles
James Rosenbloom
With a business background prior to becoming an attorney, I worked for two years as a member of the Tax Department of an international accounting firm. This two-year stint in public accounting provided substantial practical experience for the areas in which I have found myself practicing as an attorney. With this accounting experience, I have been able to focus on handling a broad spectrum of legal matters which often face the small business owner. In this regard, I have handled many transactions involving the sale or purchase of small businesses. As an adjunct of this practice, my prior accounting experience has also afforded substantial experience in the area of valuations of small businesses, and deferred compensation arrangements.
These engagements have come within the context of shareholder disputes/litigation, divorces, and estate tax valuations, as well as representation of the small business owner wishing to buy or sell. Our firm also prepares individual and business tax returns for many clients, as many of our clients feel that tax attorneys are best situated to prepare timely and accurate tax returns. Our firm also prepares Qualified Domestic Relations Orders for family attorneys and/or persons involved in divorce cases in which interests in qualified (and some non-qualified) retirement plans are to be divided.
